Holy smokes where is the time going? Can you believe I’m 6.5 months pregnant? I can’t. Well until I look in the mirror ;)

Baby Toma is 26 weeks today and is about the size of a head of lettuce. (depending on what you read)

Here’s what Baby Toma has been up to this week:

  • He is about 14 inches long and weighs just less than 2 lbs.
  • His lungs are still developing and he’s taking small breaths of amniotic fluid to help get him in shape for his first breath of fresh air.
  • His veins are visible through his transparent skin but that will change soon as his skin changes to opaque.
  • His nerve pathways are becoming more developed, making him more sensitive to noises.

And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:

Workouts: I have been totally slacking on these. I just haven’t felt up to it. One day I had a little break but was starving so I ate instead. And the other times I’m so pooped from working, I don’t do anything. I DID, however get in a little back and bi work out between clients on Monday.

And yesterday, Mom and I went for a 3 mile run/walk.

Her goal for the #whatsbeautiful campaign is to run a 5k this fall. She’s never been a runner so I’m super proud and pumped she even wants to attempt one!!

Symptoms: Nothing really :)

Food Aversions: Coffee. Blech. It still proves to be my nemesis. And chicken. I hope that changes after he gets here because I live off of chicken.

Food Cravings:  Ya know, not too much of anything. I have random days where I want something, but it’s nothing super duper strong. I do have a hankering for some pumpkin bread but obviously it’s the wrong season. Ooo oo… here’s one… s’mores. Oh ya. I had a HUGE craving for smores. And I saw DQ came out with a s’mores blizzard that I was [this] close to buying but I wanted the real deal.

You can assume I fulfilled that craving ;)

Oh and one other thing I’ve wanted for months was broccoli cheddar chicken from Cracker Barrel. I haven’t had it in a few years and for some reason I had to have some. They only have it on Wednesday nights and unfortunately I work late every Wednesday. Well I just so happened to get off early one night and by the time I got there, they were all out. Boo. But I got an early night again (luckily!) and drum roll…

I know it’s not healthy [enter rolling eyes here] but it was just as good as I remember and I don’t feel an ounce of guilt. This pregnancy thing is something else ;)

Sleep: It’s been going better than it has, thanks to that pillow.

Fun & Weird Stuff From the Week: Fun stuff – we finished our baby registry, and we already got our crib and dresser! Thanks Grammy! And the best part of last week?

My sister blessed us all with the arrival of her son. He was a stubborn guy but he’s here now so that’s all that matters.

Say hello to Mason James! :)

He was 9lbs 7oz and is absolutely perfect!

Big baby right? My other sister (in-law) had a 9lb 2.5oz baby last July. Can we say I’m a little scared for the heffer child I’ll probably produce? Ha!

Baby Items Purchased: Nada. I’m trying reallllly hard not to buy anything until after the shower. As much as I’d love to spoil him rotten, I can’t wait to see all the fun stuff we’ll get there!

Looking Forward To: Picking out paint colors for the nursery and starting to assemble it!

Question for the fit moms out there: Did you use a belly band when you exercised? I had some serious lower back pain after running last time and my doctor recommended getting one of those.

Note: I should mention this information comes from The Bump and Everyday Family.

Lets celebrate today! Celebrate what’s good.

If you’re anything like me, you set goals for yourself. I do it all year long, not just on January 1. There are some I made for myself this year that won’t happen, but that’s ok. I will make it happen some day.

Is it safe to say we all want to look and feel better? There may be some of you out there who are completely satisfied with the way you look and feel. Props to you!

For me, living fit and healthy is an ongoing process. It’s a challenge. It’s a lifestyle and a choice you must make for yourself every day.

Look at the progress you’ve made towards your goals. Look beyond pounds lost. Be happy with them. Give yourself a pat on the back for making your health a priority because there will be a day when you can longer do anything about it.

Strive for progress, not perfection. No one is perfect and you shouldn’t compare yourself to anyone. Even if you have a similar goal as another person, it doesn’t mean you’ll reach it in the same time frame, and it doesn’t mean you’ll end up looking or feeling the same as them. Take some time to focus on yourself.

Don’t get frustrated if you’re not seeing results as quickly as you want. If you want to be successful, you need to be in it for the long haul. Being fit and healthy isn’t a 12 week plan. It’s forever. (well as long as you want it to be) Celebrate each breakthrough you make towards success, and you’ll continue to stay motivated.

Set a goal and write out the steps to help you get there.

Example – lets say you want to start drinking more water. How are you going to do that?

Try these:
- set an alarm on your phone to remind you when it’s time to drink up
- write times on a water bottle to make sure you’ve had x amount of water by whatever time frame
- drink a full glass of water immediately when you wake up and right before you go to bed. This ensures you’ve at least had 16+ ounces for the day.

Worry about your happiness before anything else. If you’re striving towards a goal you think you “want” but in return it’s not really making you happy, what’s the point? Sure, I’d love to have 6 pack abs every day of every year, but I wouldn’t be happy. Why? Because I wouldn’t be able to enjoy a glass of wine with my friends or family. I wouldn’t be able to eat certain foods because the way my body metabolizes them. Etc etc. Striving towards an impractical goal is a waste of your time and mental focus. If you focus on what makes you happy, you’ll have an easier time setting goals to support that.

My focus right now is to live a fit and healthy lifestyle while pregnant.

Even pregnant I still set goals for myself. I don’t always announce them because they’re sometimes little, mental things – one more rep, run a little harder, a little faster, etc. But they’re there.

I will continue to set goals. I will continue to live healthy. I will continue to live happy.

#IWILL

Will you??
