On Wednesday, several people laced up their sneakers and went for a run down Michigan Avenue along side Kenyans, Wilson Meikuaya and Jackson Ntirkana.
They were invited here by Freshii to lead a fun run, dressed in traditional red shukas with beaded jewelry, to Freshii locations throughout the city to symbolize health, wellness and nutrition.
To help nourish and energize children and communities in the developing world, Freshii created the “Free The Children” program. At Freshii locations, customers can purchase a $5 limited edition reusable “green bowl” with proceeds going towards building school kitchens and vegetable gardens in Free The Children communities.
Wilson and Jackson have experienced the impact Free The Children has had in their community firsthand. They were joined by Freshii CEO, Matthew Corrin, as well as co-workers and fans on the run.
The initiative will help students in overseas communities where Free The Children works. Sixty-six million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world, with 23 million in Africa alone.
Together, Free The Children and Freshii will make a difference for those students – helping nourish their bodies and minds so they can concentrate on learning — not on hunger.
And today they’re giving one lucky reader the chance to win a $25 gift card to Freshii!
