Baby Toma: 36 Weeks

Am I dreaming? 36 WEEKS today??!!!! For real?

Baby Toma is 36 weeks and is about the size of a honeydew. (depending on what you read)

Just a little comparison to show you how much he’s grown recently. And it’s safe to say my obliques have left the building. You can see them flexed in the front shot. But I’m relaxed in the side, and they are no where to be found. Ah well. They hung around as long as possible :)

Here’s what Baby Toma has been up to this week:

  • He is about 19 inches long and weighs about 6.5 lbs. (<– holy huge growth spurt! More on that below)
  • His most important job now until he arrives is to continue to put on weight.
  • Studies show that newborns prefer their mother’s voice to any other voice.  (umm make my heart melt!)

And here’s what’s been happening with me this past week:

Workouts: Basically non-existent. I’ve been cleaning the house like a mad woman though and since it’s a two story house I’m counting that as a work out ;) Is this the nesting stage?

Weight Gain: I haven’t talked about this since the beginning because everyone is different. As you read before, they were concerned about me not gaining enough weight but I gained 5 lbs in a week last week. Talk about a freaking growth spurt. Little guy was just waiting to blow me up I guess. As long as he’s a healthy baby I’m good with it :)

Symptoms: Not too much. Horrible lower back pain every now and again, but it’s tolerable. I had my 35 week check up Monday and when I laid back she said “this is a contraction” and pushed on my rock hard stomach. She said, “so whatever that felt like to you, you can be aware of it but they’ll get much stronger.” I didn’t feel a thing. ha.

Food Aversions: Still chicken. Thumbs down to that one. Seriously I hope it comes back. Not like I’m crying over not having it,

Food Cravings:  Still no definite cravings but here are some of my recent eats.

I haven’t had a pretzel in years, and while we were at the county fair a couple weeks ago, it sounded amazing. I’m so glad I got one too because it happened to be the best pretzel I’ve ever eaten. It was fluffy, not greasy, and sans salt. Perfection.

You could call this a craving. Please tell me you’ve tried them.

Ok, oreos? Definite craving. And after seeing this picture, I’d like some more.

Oops, bump snuck in ;)

Oh man. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I want sushi. REAL sushi. With raw fish. And fish eggs. In all it’s glory. My sister and I went out for lunch and had cooked sushi, which will suffice for now, but it’s one of the first things I’d like to eat post-baby.

Still eating pretty healthy, but I’m not denying myself any treats if I want them. Notice a trend with my breakfast? I seem to get stuck on the same things. Same breakfast. Same snacks. Hence why you don’t see too many food pictures anymore.

Sleep: Some days are better than others. Just taking it one day at a time. I think my family and friends think I’m nuts because I’m in bed by 8pm (insert old lady joke here). But in all fairness, I do get up early to train.

Fun & Weird Stuff From the Week: Fun fun fun! We’re almost finished with Gavin’s room. Brandon has to get the closet doors up but then it’s done-zo. I’ll share a picture when it’s finished.

I also start going to the doctor every week now. Woo hoo! Nothing was happening with my appointment Monday but I didn’t really expect anything. We’re counting down the days now.

Baby Items Purchased: Nada. I still want to get a bottle drying rack or something to go in the dishwasher but other than that I’m done buying till he gets here. I want to buy clothes so badly, but I don’t know how big or small he will be so I’m holding off.

Looking Forward To: Finishing his room!

Have a great day!
