Where do I begin? Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family! I’m still trying to recover from all the food. I wasn’t prepared yesterday but I made a point to prep and pack some meals for today. Lets backtrack to Christmas baking though.
Saturday, me, mom, my sister, and my sister-in-law got together to bake. And boy did we bake.
I’ve linked the three pictures of cookies I made above to their recipes. I completely forgot cocoa powder for the triple chip so I used hot cocoa mix instead. Don’t do that. Mmm k?
Christmas Eve my mom has her sister and family over after church. I didn’t snap any pics other than dessert but we had fried chicken from a local restaurant, macaroni salad from same place, homemade potato salad, rolls, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, and seven layer salad. SO good! But the prize winner – dessert.
Christmas morning all the kids get together at mom and dad’s for breakfast and presents. We had mom’s homemade biscuits and gravy (amazing!), scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. Afterwards we opened all our presents, going around in circle to make sure we could watch everyone open their gifts. I love that we do this. You get to treasure the times together instead of blasting through each and every gift. I am very blessed with an amazing family and I got a ton of great gifts. A big one was a racing suit. Oh ya! More details on that later
We cleaned up the giant mess and got ready for another celebration. Every year our Dad’s side of the family gets together. There is about 40 people all together and every family brings a dish. I can’t even tell you the different foods we had because there were SO many but the highlight of this one? Mom’s homemade chicken and dumplings. You just can’t beat those homemade foods.
We went to the in-laws for dinner. I know, a huge third meal of the day. Yikes! One of the gifts we got my father-in-law was some liquor chocolates. It’s a joke in the family but I’ve never had one so I was actually kind of excited for him to open them.
We had lots of good food again there and went home to see our child finally.
I felt bad the poor guy had to spend most of Christmas by himself. But, Grammie got him some presents too so he had a blast opening those. I took a video of one but can’t figure out how to upload it. Boo. He got a new toy that was demolished within ten minutes and some treats.
I love holidays. It’s one of the few times a year that our whole family gets together.
What was your favorite part about Christmas?
