Weird blog title, eh? Well, this month I participated in something called Foodie Penpals.
It was a program started by Lindsay, the blogger behind The Lean Green Bean, in 2011 to bring bloggers and readers together and try out different foods from all over the country. If you’re interested, you can read more about it on her website but basically anyone can join in (even readers!). You must register by the 4th of the following month (so if you’re interested in participating for June, you must fill out the form on her website by June 4th). Then, she matches everyone up and sends out an email to tell you your foodie penpal. You have until the 15th to learn about them, buy their goodies and get it shipped out. Then, everyone writes about what they got in their box on the last day of the month. Fun, right? I thought so.
I received this package of goodies from Melissa.
- Coconut cashew candies from Dinstuhls Fine Candies (a local store in her town). I’ve never been a huge fan of coconut and up until about a year or two ago I actually avoided it all together. I was a little hesitant to even try this but since
I am a walking garbage can I try everything once, I tried it. oh.my.gawwwd. It was amazing! I seriously could not stop eating it. Thank God Melissa didn’t send me a bigger bag of this stuff!
- Rendezvous seasoning. So thoughtful! She sent me this to put on my crockpot shredded chicken. I have yet to try it because I have a HUGE freezer stockpile already made up but you can bet your bottom I’ll be gobbling that up!
- Fat free chocolate almond cacao nib granola. Her own recipe! I loved this, especially in my yogurt. It’s a little bitter at first, like most dark chocolate, but after you get past the first or second bite.. look out. #holyyum She did tell me she used that recipe for the base but switched a few things so feel free to contact her if you want the exact measurements.
- Endangered Species dark chocolate with cacao nib candy bar. I love Endangered Species bars. They use all natural ingredients, are gluten free and certified vegan. They also donate money for each bar sold.
So that’s what was in my box this month – Thanks Melissa! It was my first month participating and I absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to hear how my penpal liked her box.
If you’re interested in joining, head over to Lindsay’s site for all the info or click on the foodie penpal icon on the left of my website. You don’t have to be a blogger to join.
ps.. in case you’re wondering why I sent my #foodiepenpals match – check out Christine’s post here.
